Swimming Success!

Success at this year’s Large School Gala and the Rotary Swimarathon.

On Thursday 25th January, 23 children from across Key Stage 2 competed in the annual ‘Large School’s Swimming Gala,’ at the Mere’s Leisure Centre, Grantham. It was a busy and exciting morning full of tense moments, as our children represented our school and competed against 5 other local primary schools.

We are delighted to announce that our boys and girls were placed 1st overall and our school came 1st, in the ‘Relay’ event and in overall 1st position, in the 'Large School’s Swimming Gala,' for the fourth year in a row; across all events.

Gala winners for another year, well done everyone!

The children were a real credit to our school demonstrating and embodying the school's values and the 'can do' attitude we encourage all to have. Their sportsmanship 'shone through' with each and every member of our team 'striving for excellence' swimming to the very best of their abilities; resulting in the team, and our school, being awarded their 4th consecutive Swim Gala Victory-champions in 2015, 2016, 2017 and now in 2018!

A big thank you to Mrs Webster for training the swimming team and to Mrs Morris for accompanying the children, during the competition. A very special thank you to our parents who supported our children and stayed, to the end, providing a rousing cheer-as the triumphant team left the pool side. Well done everyone!

As well as this, on Saturday 3rd February 2018, Barrowby CE primary School entered 65 swimmers in to the annual Swimarathon event organised by the Grantham Rotary Club.

Our team was made up of parents, and other family members, ex pupils, staff and 40 of our children ranging from Year 3 to Year 6. Thank you everyone!

Every person swam to the absolute best of their abilities throughout the whole 55 minutes and totalled a staggering 1168 lengths which is equivalent to 29.2km or 18 miles! Well done team.

Another big thank you to Mrs Webster for organising our school’s team for the Swimarathon; to Miss Swatton and Mrs Silby for cheering the team on and to the various members of our school community (staff, parents, ex-pupils) who joined our team.  Finally, a huge thank you to all of our children who participated and truly ’shone like stars’ demonstrating once again,

“If we try…we can fly!”

Thank you one and all-what a team!
