COVID

At Barrowby CE Primary School, we endeavour to support all our school family and minimise the impact COVID has had on all our lives.  We continue to:

  • implement a one-way system when parents are dropping off/picking up thus reducing congestion,
  • maintain ventilated rooms,
  • encourage good hand hygiene, and
  • use the 'Catch it, Bin it, Kill it' to encourage good respiratory hygiene.

In case of an outbreak of COVID at our school, please see the below plan:

Advice to schools and parents has changed since the removal of restrictions.

It is no longer recommended that children are tested for COVID unless directed to do so by a health professional.

The symptoms of Coronavirus -

  • A new persistent dry cough-must be over 24 hours, typically 8-10 times an hour;
  • A high temperature of 37.8C or above
  • Loss of taste or smell

If your child tests positive then you should keep them at home, if you can, for 3 days.  We kindly ask that you inform the school of the absence and the outcome of the test.  The school staff are on hand to advise and support parents.  Children may return to school after the 3 days as long as they do not have a high temperature.

Due to the shortened period of isolation, parents should be advised that the school will no longer be providing work for pupils to complete at home if they test positive for COVID.

As a school we receive a small amount of funding to support minimise the impact of COVID on pupils. Please see our COVID Catch Up Report below:
