This week we are learning all about Bonfire night. What do you know about Bonfire night? Do you know what happens? Do you celebrate Bonfire night?

What did Guy Fawkes try to do?

How do you feel towards Guy Fawkes? Was he a good or a bad man? Discuss with an adult.

Year 1s: Can you write 3 sentences about what you enjoy about Bonfire Night. Concentrate on using a capital letter to start and a full stop to end your sentence.


Reception: Can you re-enact the plot to blow up the houses of parliament!

Resources: Crown, chairs, boat, hoods up on coats for plotters, police

Also using black paper, white and yellow crayons. Use your letter sounds to write firework sounds. ‘pop’ ‘bang’ ‘whizz’ ‘weeee’

Get creative and make a bonfire/firework picture. You could use glitter, cheerios, paint, glue, tissue paper.

 Create a firework display using your construction toys like Lego, Duplo, Stickle bricks.

 Can you make a rocket? Use toilet rolls and decorate them. How tall is it? Can you make it taller?

Let’s recap what we know about Bonfire Night.  Watch the video clip and discuss the key events with an adult. Can you recall them in sequence?  Use actions to support the writing process.
