Year 1’s This week’s focus is alternative pronunciations for ea and er.

This week we are going to be recognising them as ea (head) & er (stern)

Have a go at spelling the following words using our

‘Look, Cover, Write, Check’ method.

Spellings: head, deaf, bread, feather, instead, her, germ, stern, herb


Here are some activities to try;

Roll a dice and read a word on that number rolled line.

Use this word list to read the words and sort them into the matching ‘ea’ sounds.
