Below is a great geography resource that you can use  to recap map skills and compass skills that you have been doing in class last term! Why not use this opportunity to learn about different counties of the UK? Which different places have you been to in the Unites Kingdom?

Fancy a challenge? Have a go at this really cool Google Geography challenge that Miss Lees has set!

Week 12 - Fair Trade

Have a look at the powerpoint to get some ideas to think about Fair Trade products. Have a look at the Fair Trade website as well to see what sort of products they offer! Do you have any Fair Trade products at home? Make a list of all the Fair Trade products you can find in your cupboards! (You might need an adult's help for this!). Here is a video clip you might like, called Guardians of the Rainforest, which talks about the importance of Fair Trade! Don't forget, the Fair Trade premium is there to help farmers and growers receive a fair price for their goods.

Below, you'll also find some other worksheets to have a go at!

Worksheet 1 - can you have a go at guessing how much each group of people involved would make from the profits of each item sold? Have a look at the answers... what do you think? Does this seem fair?

Worksheet 2 - Make a poster showing off everything you have learned about Fair Trade!

Week 11

This week we will be focussed on understanding that different products are imported to and exported from the UK.  Look at the PowerPoint for some of the different products we import/export. Have a look if you have some of the products in your home and look where they are from!

Week 9!

This week, we'll be thinking about trading. The film industry is a type of trade. We can see this when places in America (like LA) export films over to us in the UK, and when the UK export films over to America.

  • Can you research some films the UK have exported to other countries?
  • Can you research some films the UK have imported from other countries?
  • Can you make a poster to show your findings?
  • This video might help your research too (there are some interactive activities for you to try as well!)

Learning Through Landscapes

This week, have a look at this resource pack and have a go at some of the activities! They are all based on geography in your local area. What do we mean by local area? Don't forget, if you have a go at any of these activities, email us to let us know how you got on!

VE Week Geography Challenge!

  • Research which counties in England played important roles during World War 2 (think especially about counties on the coast such as Kent, Norfolk and Lincolnshire).
  • Can you research or ask an adult, what special role did Lincolnshire in particular play during World War 2?
  • Do you have any relatives who lived in different parts of the country during the war? Can you find them on a map, and find out what role that county played in the war?

Film Studio Hunt!

Can you investigate where the ‘big 5’ main film studios are in LA and locate them on Google maps?

  • Are they all in the same area of LA? Draw a map!
  • Are they close enough to walk between or would you travel in a different way?
  • Make your own ‘fact sheet’ that could be useful for a tourist to take to LA with them.

California Challenge!

Here's a challenge for you! Can you create a poster or a leaflet telling us all about California?

Here are some questions you could use to help structure your work!

  • Where is California? What country? What continent?
  • Is it a city? Is it bigger than a city? Is it smaller than a city?
  • Is it an urban place or a rural place?
  • Can you use resources like maps, Google Maps or Google Earth to find California? If you can find it, do you recognise any place names in California? Where do you recognise them from?
Don't forget to email in any work you do to so we can see! If you are happy for any work or photos to be shared on the website, let us know in your email and we can pop it on for you!
