Junior Road Safety Officers

At Barrowby CE Primary School, we have appointed two Junior Road Safety Officers  selected from our Year 6 pupils.  Their aim:

"To make Church Street a safer place."

To this end, they will be working with our whole school community to ensure that everyone knows how to 'cross roads safely.' They have already attended a meeting with Sara Bartlett, Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership, to explore strategies and the use of incentives so that all our school community understand how to make Church Street a Safer Place.

On Friday 20th May 2016, our JRSO led the whole school assembly:  introduced their roles and their aim as well as reminded children how to be safe in Church Street and while crossing other roads.  Please find their presentation below:

Throughout  the Summer Term, our new JRSO will continue to organise a range of events. These will include:

  • Launching Road Safety Day-'Walk on Wednesdays'
  • Monitoring useage of Church Street by cars and pedestrians
  • Conducting School Assemblies

We hope that you will enjoy the activities our Junior Road Safety Officers are planning. Later in the Summer term, they will also send home Parent Feedback Forms to gauge the impact of their work.
