May 4th, Week 7: The 75th VE Day Anniversary

May 8th: VE Day 75th Anniversary Celebrations

This week we have a bank holiday on Friday when the nation should have been joining together for parties, picnics, concerts and other celebrations to mark the 75th Anniversary of the end of the second world war in Europe after nearly six years of war.

8 May 1945 – VE (Victory in Europe) Day – was one that remained in the memory of all those who witnessed it. It meant an end to nearly six years of a war that had changed the world forever.

Watch these videos as an introduction to this weeks learning.

V E Day began with Mr Churchill's broadcast officially announcing the end of war in Europe.

There is also lots of interesting facts, videos and photographs on the CBBC Website.

Each week aim to do some of the activities from each section. It's particularly important that Maths and English activities form a little bit of each 'school' day. Remember, there are still lots of links for activities and other things to explore in the 'Home Learning' section on our main class page.

I'm also loving the activities on BBC Bitesize and don't forget these can be accessed at any time by pressing the RED button on your TV remote (just make sure you ask Mum and Dad first!).

Keep sending your emails and photographs, I really enjoy receiving them:
