Coronavirus Update 4

Yesterday, the government announced a series of population wide measures to try to slow the spread of the Coronavirus, these included:

  • Reducing the opportunities for social interaction with others e.g. refrain from socialising in restaurants, theatres, groups, crowds etc;
  • Non-essential travel is to be discouraged; and
  • If anyone in your family develops a ‘new, persistent cough’ or fever then the whole family should remain at home (self-isolate) for 14 days.

Please inform the school of any absence and the reasons associated.

Please could we remind you, that if you and your child/ren are not showing any symptoms then your child/ren should continue to attend school as normal.

We recognise that there are a wide range of different concerns around COVID-19 and we will remain vigilant and keep you up to date.

For the moment, the Government has decided to keep schools open therefore Barrowby CE Primary School is currently open to all pupils who are not showing any symptoms for the Covid-19 virus.

Whilst we are open, we are very keen to prioritise learning and keep our school a happy and safe place. With a few small changes, we believe we can minimise the risks for everyone without compromising on the quality of education.

With this in mind, we would like to remind you that parents and children need to arrive between 8.45am and 8.55am and do not need to arrive at school any earlier than that, unless using the Breakfast Club.  Please do not congregate outside the school from 8.30am.  At the end of the day, the children will be brought out as quickly as we can, so you can collect your child/ren and then disperse.

As you know, yesterday we took the decision to limit all visitors into school, unless they are visiting when pupils are not present. Parents/guardians have been asked to:

  • communicate with the school via telephone or e-mail and refrain from coming into the school building in person;
  • use the hand sanitiser on entering the foyer;
  • communicate with the Administrative team via the intercom, in the foyer-limiting visitors to school;
  • refrain from congregating/waiting in the foyer in large groups;
  • download the Absence Request form and/or Medication form from our school website and e-mail the form into school rather than coming into school in person.

Thank you for supporting us with this.

We also advised that we may need to postpone or cancel whole school events.

In line with the new Government guidance, the following school events have now been cancelled:

We acknowledge, that for many, the Government guidance and the news about Covid-19 and the Coronavirus can seem a bit unsettling.  Please let us reassure you that we will continue to support all our school community through this difficult time.  Any changes to this advice will be communicated to parents via ParentmailPMX and our school website.  Thank you once again for your support and understanding.
