Gold Artsmark Award

You may remember, on Thursday 7th February 2019, our school was notified that our recent Artsmark application had been screened and validated and that we, as a school have been awarded the Gold Artsmark.

In 2014, we first gained the Artsmark award which celebrated all that we do as a school in both Performing and Visual Arts. Last year, Mrs Webster and Mr Batey began the process of re-evaluating our school’s provision and its impact on our pupils within the Arts. The Case Study was resubmitted: with Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum available. We were delighted to become an Artsmark Gold School, this year.

Since receiving the award, we have discovered that across Lincolnshire there are more than 300 Artsmark schools.  However, there are only 3 Artsmark Gold Schools-Barrowby being 1 of them, achieving the ‘Gold standard’ in this national award. This continues to demonstrate our commitment to the arts are as part of our rich and varied curriculum.

In the time since we have achieved the award, in February 2019, our school have been invited to take part in a national research project with the Royal Shakespeare Company, which we are all excitied about.

In addition to this, at the end of last term, we were delighted to receive even more wonderful news. Artsmark have recognised our support of the arts and moving into the next academic year, Mrs Webster has been invited to become an Artsmark ambassador. This will mean helping and advising other schools in Lincolnshire and beyond to achieve the Artsmark. Well done Mrs Webster!

We are delighted that our school has been awarded the Gold Artsmark which recognises our school’s commitment to the arts.

Well done everyone-the journey continues.
