Today we mark the 75^th Anniversay of VE day.  If school had been open to all this would have been a ‘special bank holiday’ to commemorate this event.  As it is, school is closed for the majority of pupils. We are isolated, not able to be with friends and family.  Nevertheless, we ‘make do and mend’ and keep going.

Yesterday, when on my daily walk I came across many different ways that members of my local community are marking this day.  There were poppy displays, flags strewn from windows and along fences as well as displays in windows. 

However, you intend to spend this day, remember when this is all over, in the words of Dame Vera Lynne, “We’ll meet again.”  Enjoy your Bank Holiday.

Thank you to all those children and parents who have contacted their class teachers.  It has been lovely to hear from you, either to:

• confirm that ‘all is well’ at home and your child is happy with the tasks that they are doing;
• to share some work with your child’s teacher; as well as
• to ask for further support around a particular activity.

Today, we would like to acknowledge the work completed at home by awarding our brand new ‘Home Learning: Stars of the Week’ certificates.  These are awarded to children who have worked hard at home and have shared their work with their class teacher throughout the week.  This week, we would like to recognise:

We would also like to recognise the Rock Legends who have continued to learn and revise the times tables and associate division facts, using Times Tables Rockstars.  This week, certificates are awarded for those children with the most answers right, in their class.

Well done everyone for all your efforts at home.  Don’t forget to:

• continue to revise your times tables/associated division facts on the Times Tables Rockstars app and you could be next week’s Rock Legend;
• take part in Mr Batey’s Daily Challenge Competition and you might be able to do your Personal Best + 1 and receive a certificate.

For those who have ordered Food Boxes, they will be delivered on Tuesday 12^th May 2020.  You will be able to collect them between 12.30pm and 4.00pm.
