On Thursday 26th January, 21 children from across Key Stage 2 competed in the annual ‘Large School’s Swimming Gala,’ at the Mere’s Leisure Centre, Grantham. It was a busy and ‘nail biting’ morning full of tense moments, as our children represented our school and competed against 7 other local primary schools.
We are delighted to announce that our school came 2nd, in the ‘Relay’ event and in overall 1st position, in the 'Large School’s Swimming Gala,' for the third year in a row; across 58 events.
Gala winners for another year, well done everyone!
The children were a real credit to our school demonstrating and embodying the school's values and the 'can do' attitude we encourage all to have. Their sportsmanship 'shone through' with each and every member of our team 'striving for excellence' swimming to the very best of their abilities; resulting in the team, and our school, being rewarded with their 3rd consecutive Swim Gala Victory-champions in 2015, 2016 and now in 2017!
A big thank you to Mrs Webster for training the team; to Mrs Bird for accompanying the children and to all the children who participated and truly ’shone like stars.’
A very special thank you to our parents who supported our children and stayed, to the end, providing a rousing cheer-as the triumphant team left the pool side. Well done everyone!
