The Indian Experience
Last Friday, Year 5 and 6 children were lucky enough to take part in a Hinduism/India day. The day was led by Sunita, who began by telling the children the story of Rama and Sita. The children learnt about Hindu prayer, praying and the resources they use during prayer such as the incense stick and candles.
Year 5 then went on to produce some stunning Rangoli Art work using stencils, colours chalk and black sugar paper. These had to be symmetrical so they worked hard in teams of four.
The day ended with the children dressing up and learning some Hindu /Bollywood style dancing which they loved. It was a fantastic day for the children to explore another culture and ask questions, deepening their understanding.
