Why join Barrowby CE Primary School?
At Barrowby CE Primary School we aim to create a happy, encouraging and challenging environment, where we strive for excellence in teaching and learning, and where we help our children to achieve the highest possible standards and to come to terms with the world around them. We value our caring, friendly family atmosphere within which we set high standards of behaviour and good manners. We believe this is in keeping with the ethos of a church school.

We feel this helps us to provide positive and rewarding experiences with equality of opportunity for all. We strive to prepare our children for a fulfilling role in society, and believe that the partnership between home, school and the community is central to preparing our children for the adult world. We have high expectations and standards, and encourage our children to reach them by teaching a broad based and relevant curriculum.

Co-opted & Foundation Governor

We are delighted to invite expressions of interest for the role of Co-opted Governor at our school — an exciting opportunity to contribute to a thriving, ambitious, and highly successful educational community.

In 2024, our school was rated Outstanding by Ofsted in all five areas, reflecting the exceptional dedication of our staff and the strength of our school’s vision and leadership. This is a wonderful moment to join us as we continue to build on this success and shape the next chapter of our school’s journey.

As a Co-opted Governor, you will join a supportive, friendly, and collaborative team who value each other’s contributions and maintain a healthy work–life balance. The role offers the chance to develop new skills, influence strategic direction, and make a meaningful and lasting impact on the lives of our pupils.

We are particularly keen to welcome new governors who can bring fresh perspectives from the wider community or who can strengthen our connection with the Diocese of Lincoln.

•Representatives from the wider community (non-parents)
We welcome applications from local residents, community members, professionals, volunteers, or anyone passionate about supporting education. You do not need to have a child at the school — what matters is your interest in contributing to a school that sits at the heart of its community. Your external insight, objectivity, and lived experience will help us maintain strong community links and ensure our decisions reflect the broad range of people we serve.

•Individuals with knowledge of, or links to, the Diocese of Lincoln (non-parents)
As a Church of England school, our Christian ethos is central to who we are. We would particularly value someone who understands or has experience with the Diocese of Lincoln — whether through church involvement, diocesan activities, community faith work, or simply a strong appreciation of the values that underpin our school’s character. Your perspective will support us in upholding and continuing to develop the distinctiveness and spiritual life of our school.
If you feel that your experience, perspective, or community connection could enrich our governing body, we would be delighted to hear from you. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference, grow your own skills, and be part of an outstanding and supportive school community.
