Ancient Greece: Monsters, Myths and Legends
Through our Spring Term topic, we will use a range of sources to find about the life and achievements of the Ancient Greeks. Through our investigations, we will find out about the city states of Athens and Sparta, warfare and seamanship, everyday life, beliefs, culture, and through Greek mythology, some of the key events and individuals from this period. We will also explore the continuing legacy of Ancient Greeks and we will explore their influence on education, language, architecture, government and the Olympic Games. Links will be made with other ancient civilisations and societies we have studied. We will develop our skills of historical enquiry including how evidence is used to make historical claims, and on developing our understanding of historical concepts such continuity and change, similarity and difference, and significance.

Our Church School Vision
At Barrowby Church of England Primary School we believe that:
As a Church school family, we strive for excellence, ensuring that we all feel happy, valued and loved. We aim to provide an exciting, innovative, and relevant curriculum that enables all to ‘shine’ and develop as creative, respectful and independent citizens. We seek to promote equal opportunities for all so that each individual is encouraged to achieve their full potential and become lifelong learners who can make a positive contribution to society.
Our classroom will embrace these following key values - Each value is linked to a Bible verse and story that demonstrates that particular value. (Can you think of times you have displayed these values?)
Including our school values are at the heart of everything we do;
